At Bailey's Court Primary School, we pride ourselves on the academic achievement of our children alongside their emotional and social development. Our goal is to develop the whole child through a curriculum which is fun, balanced and relevant, in a learning environment which is safe and stimulating.
We value a ‘learning-theme’ approach which focuses on developing skills, promoting creative and independent learning. Our curriculum is adaptable and provides the flexibility to meet the needs and interests of our children.
Developing reading, writing and maths is a key priority for all of our children. Children in Reception and KS1 use a combination of the 'Letters and Sounds' and 'Jolly Phonics' schemes in order to develop their phonics. We use a range of reading schemes including The Oxford Reading Tree and Ginn to support children's reading . At Bailey's Court Primary School we take pride in the social, moral, spiritual and cultural development of our children. Our curriculum reflects our values of respect, open-mindedness and responsibility alongside our goal that our children become confident and aspirational individuals in preparation for life beyond our school.
As a school community, we uphold, model and teach our children about the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
As part of our planned learning at Bailey’s Court Primary School, we teach our children about British Values through our Religious Education, through Personal, Social, Health and Education and daily collective worship. We also promote British values through daily classroom teaching and learning, taking opportunities to make connections that are meaningful and relevant for the children, for example, through the election of our school council and our high expectations of courtesy and behaviour around the school.
